Team 303’s initiatives extend beyond competition robotics. We work to make STEAM accessible, inclusive, and impactful through mentorship, global outreach, and community service.

Middle School Technical Design Challenge (MSTDC)
Team 303 mentors several teams in the Middle School Technical Design Challenge (MSTDC), a competition that encourages students to apply engineering and design skills. We’re also proud to host the final competition at Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, where middle school teams from across the region come together to compete in their events. Through MSTDC, our team continues to develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while supporting the next generation of innovators.

STEAM Week
During STEAM Week, Team 303 hosts after-school sessions for elementary students in grades 2 to 7, offering fun and engaging activities focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Each day includes icebreakers, three hands-on STEAM activities, and a group game, all designed and led by Team 303 members to spark creativity and curiosity in young learners.

Charlie Run
Team 303 hosts an annual Charlie Run in memory of Charlie Schulz, a transgender member of the team. The event featured a vibrant color run and aimed to promote inclusivity and equity in STEM fields. Along with the run, we run STEAM workshops and activities. All proceeds supported the creation of a scholarship for LGBTQIA+ youth pursuing careers in STEM disciplines.

Team 303 mentors 12 FLL Explore teams across two local elementary schools. We help guide young students through the fundamentals of STEM and teamwork. Our members help these students learn how to think like engineers by supporting them in building models, creating posters, and developing creative solutions to real-world problems through their final project.

We mentor FTC Team 8812 to help them grow faster and feel confident running their team. We meet with them to go over robot design, wiring, and programming, and we show them how to break big problems into smaller steps. We also help with things like engineering notebooks, season planning, and getting ready for judging. Our goal is for 8812 to be able to operate on its own, with us there as support. We’ve learned a lot from FRC, and we want to pass that on so they can compete strongly in FTC.

Team 303 proudly sponsored and mentored an RCJ team that earned 2nd place at the national competition. By providing hands-on support and expert guidance, we helped the team refine their skills and strategies, leading them to a top finish on the national stage. It’s a testament to the power of mentorship and teamwork in robotics.

We’re building a Team 303 alumni network to connect current members with graduates who’ve been through the same journey. Alumni can share internships, referrals, resume feedback, mock interviews, and real advice on college + careers, all in one place through our Slack and an alumni directory.

We mentor FRC Team 8588 year-round, helping with everything from design and machining to competition prep. Our team supports them with CNC work, improving their mechanical build, and troubleshooting issues as they come up. We also provide programming help and assist with outreach events, new opportunities, and team growth so they can keep leveling up all season long.
